Our trakrat railway product roots go back to 1999 when as a design team we developed what we called the
trakrat, a railway service vehicle which would carry seven personel with ease, and nine if outriggers were used for track inspection. The cabin was capable of being completely weatherproof with it's integral pull down screens. Trials of over 1500 miles of track were carried out durng the winter of 1999 and 2000.
The driving power was hydraulic, which included the trailer system also. Being capable of pulling upto 12 tonnes the actual power house was a very quiet, and low emission Yanmar diesel engine. The control systems included switching form track power, to auxillary
power giving 40ltrs of hydraulic, and 10Kw of 110V AC for site work. The trakrat
was inherently safe with it's dead man joystick control having an electronic
sequential power selection it was either driving or braking.
